Michael Babel

Michael Babel is Managing Director, NYSE Amex Options. He is currently involved in new product development and issues relating to market structure at NYSE Amex Options.

He is responsible for marketing options to the investment community through numerous activities including speaking at OIC educational seminars. He acts as a liaison between specialists, market makers, brokers and the trading desks of brokerage firms. He has been a part-time instructor at the New York Institute of Finance where he taught students about options.

Prior to joining NYSE Euronext, Mr. Babel was most recently with The American Stock Exchange where he served as Vice President of Options. He joined The American Stock Exchange as a Marketing Representative for ETF's in 1998 later moving to Options in 2002. He was responsible for several areas including Business Planning, Competitive Analysis and New Product Development. He routinely worked with the Legal Department and the SEC on various initiatives such as Options on Leveraged and Leveraged Inverse ETF's, Fixed Return Options, the Options Penny Pilot and amendments to the Options Listings Procedures Plan.

Before joining The American Stock Exchange in 1998, Mr. Babel worked at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter where he held Series 3, Series 7, Series 63 and Series 65 licenses.

Mr. Babel has represented the Exchange at various industry events and committees such as the Options Linkage Authority, OIC, Options Symbology and SOSA. He has also worked with the SIFMA Options Committee for options related matters.

Mr. Babel graduated from State University of New York at Albany with a degree in English.
