The Tokyo Stock Exchange and The Options Industry Council Sign Content Licensing Agreement

Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) and The Options Industry Council (OIC), a world leader in options education based in Chicago , announced today that they have entered into a licensing agreement and are working on the development of an educational program aimed at Japanese investors.

The Options Industry Council (OIC) was created in 1992 to educate investors and their financial advisors about the benefits and risks of exchange-traded equity options. Options are a versatile but complex product, which is why OIC conducts hundreds of seminars and webcasts throughout the year, distributes thousands of interactive DVDs and brochures, and maintains a Web site and Help Desk focused on options education. Today, its sponsors include the Boston Options Exchange, the Chicago Board Options Exchange, the International Securities Exchange, NASDAQ, NYSE Amex Options, NYSE Arca, NASDAQ OMX PHLX and The Options Clearing Corporation.

The TSE will introduce its new trading platform, “Tdex+,” for option contracts in July. This new program will enhance liquidity in the TSE options market while providing greater investor accessibility to the options market. The licensing agreement gives the TSE the ability to connect Japanese investors with an array of high quality educational materials on options trading, which is a valuable first step for investors.

The first educational initiatives include TSE’s seminars listed below for individual investors featuring OIC President Gina McFadden and, from NYSE Arca, OIC Representative Paul Finnegan.
