OIC Introduces Online Class "Options Strategies in a Bull Market"
Chicago—July 28, 2003
Want to be ready for the next big market leap? Investors with an upbeat market perspective can turn to The Options Industry Council's (OIC) newest online class, "Options Strategies in a Bull Market" to learn about options strategies to consider. This free class is located within OIC's Website.
"OIC's newest class is very timely as more investors are beginning to feel confident in the market," said Paul Stevens, OIC President. "This course is the first in a series designed to help investors identify what may be an appropriate options strategy in specific market environments. Investors have nothing to lose, and a great deal of information to gain by educating themselves on the risks and rewards of options through these free educational offerings."
"Options Strategies in a Bull Market" offers instruction on the following:
- Locking in the price paid for stock
- Protection from missing a market rally
- Using leverage without significantly increasing risk
- Utilizing LEAPS® for longer term investing
Interactive examples in the course help participants visualize the outcomes of decisions and allow them to theoretically "test" a strategy before investing. A quiz is also included at the end of the course to help class participants assess their knowledge and progress.
Investors may repeat the class until they have a solid understanding of the topic. "Options Strategies in a Bull Market" is the newest online class offered at OIC's Options University. Other classes available include: "Buying Calls," "Buying Puts," "Contracts Adjustments," "Covered Calls," Options Basics," "Options Pricing," and "Symbols and Quotes." All classes are free and require registration.
OIC began offering online classes in 2000. The online classes are one of OIC's most popular Web site offerings and year to date, have seen an average of 767,000 page views per month.
OIC is a non-profit association funded by the American Stock Exchange, Chicago Board Options Exchange, International Securities Exchange, Pacific Exchange, Philadelphia Stock Exchange and The Options Clearing Corporation.
