OIC Expands Options Education Program in 2014
For The Options Industry Council (OIC), 2014 was a busy year. Enhanced digital offerings and new partnerships have allowed OIC to reach more investors and advisors than ever before.

Financial Advisors' Use of Options: 2014 Benchmark Study
On August 21, 2014, OIC released the results of the 2014 Benchmark Study on financial advisors' use of options conducted by Bellomy Research. The study found three out of five advisors have used options in the past 12 months, a 13% increase since the inaugural study in 2011. The study findings also show advisors are using options with more of their clients in 2014, and options users are twice as likely to have larger, more successful businesses. Family offices have the goal of capturing opportunity, which includes using options. According to OIC’s Eric Cott, echoing panelist Steve Braverman from the NYSE/OIC Thought Leadership Forum, the three aspects that are important to family offices in terms of equity options are keeping it simple, education being critical and that like retail clients, multi-family office’s and single family offices are concerned about capital preservation.

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) knows when it has a good thing. That's why it is holding its third annual Thought Leadership Forum for financial advisors on June 12. Advisors who attended the previous programs agree. As one Morgan Stanley advisor wrote, "The program exceeded all my expectations and was a very productive use of my time outside of the office. Learn Options on the Go with OIC’s App
Earlier this year, The Options Industry Council (OIC) launched a mobile app for iOS devices with the goal of reaching as many people as possible with options education. The app takes information from OIC’s website and puts it in a more user-friendly format for people on the go.

European Demand for U.S. Options Continues Strong, New Study Finds
The Options Industry Council (OIC) published results of the study, "Shifting Demand in a Changing Market Landscape," conducted by TABB Group and commissioned by OIC. The study found that European investors continue to be interested in using U.S. options while becoming more sophisticated, shown by an expansion in the use of directional and volatility strategies. There is also a greater use of sector ETFs and options on single stocks.

The Options Industry Council announced a new education initiative to kick off the New Year, the Options Education Program (OEP). OEP offers a comprehensive platform for investors to learn about options for free.
