OIC Introduces Online "Covered Calls" Class
Chicago—March 5, 2002
The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today the addition of the "Covered Calls" class to its online educational offerings. This class is located at OIC Online Classes.
"The covered call strategy, which is used by options investors who own stock and have a neutral to bullish outlook on the market, is probably the most popular strategy today," said Paul Stevens, OIC President.
"The Covered Calls online class is a direct response to investors who have asked us to provide more information on this topic. It is OIC's first online class that focuses on one specific strategy."
The Covered Calls course offers an in-depth introduction and includes the following topics:
- Definition of a covered call
- Benefits of the covered call strategy
- Details on how the covered call strategy works
- An explanation of speculative vs. defensive covered call writing
A quiz is included at the end of the course to help class participants assess their knowledge and progress.
The Covered Calls class may be repeated by users until they have a solid understanding of the topic. It is accessible from the OIC Web site at no cost. Covered Calls joins the other classes currently available to options investors: "Options Pricing," "Symbols and Quotes," "Contracts Adjustments," and "Options Basics."
OIC is a non-profit association funded by the American Stock Exchange, Chicago Board Options Exchange, International Securities Exchange, Pacific Exchange, Philadelphia Stock Exchange and The Options Clearing Corporation. In 2002, OIC is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of providing investors and brokers options education.
